Washington D.C.....

I am not sure if I told my readers, but S bought us tickets to see Coldplay in Washington D.C. in July. I am BEYOND excited. I have never been to D.C. or seen Coldplay in concert. They are my ALL TIME FAVORITE BAND. S has been before, but I wanted to get some recommendations and things to do while we are there. Of course we are going to visit a lot of museums, do some sight seeing, etc., but I wanted to get some restaurant recs, hotel recs, etc. We were thinking about staying in the Georgetown area...Yes?? No?? All the advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

How exciting! I've only been to DC a few times, but I know that just outside of DC is the third biggest mall in the USA, Tyson's Corner. It has some incredible shops. And I hear all about how delicious Georgetown Cupcakes is, I really want to try it one day!

I used to work at a summer program in Georgetown for 3 years. Georgetown is just adorable! I think you will like the little strips of M and Washington streets. Its very preppy and quaint and has the neatest cobblestone streets. There really are only a few bars there though. We didnt get to go out much or to restaurants much b/c I was working at this camp thing at the university 24/7 but one time we went to Adams Morgan area which was cool. and Tysons Corner is a crazy huge mall...you can get LV and stuff there. have fun!!

For museums DEFFENITLY the Smithsonian museum of American History. It's probably the best out of the bunch. It holds things such as the ruby slippers from the wizard of oz, a section for each war America has been in, and probably the most interesting is the room of EVERY single president's inauguration outfit (along with the first ladys!) Yes- from Washington to Obama, it's amazing. They also have Lincoln's top hat, kermit's original puppet, honestly you could probably spend the WHOLE day at the Smithsonian of American History. Also, Georgetown Cupcakes is definitely as good as it looks, except be prepared to wait in a very long line ( depending the time of day you go) If you into politics, you should visit the US Capital. But you have to contact your state senator to get a pass to go visit. ( It's free, but you have to go through his/her people to get the pass to go) Have fun!! I only live 3 hours from D.C and frequent it alot during the spring =)

Georgetown is a perfect place to stay, it's gorgeous! Be sure to walk around Eastern market (they have an outdoor market on the weekends) and The Hamilton is a great place to eat! So jealous of the concert, it sounds incredible!

I live in the District and I think you'll love it here! I agree on the Smithsonian recommendations - way cool museums (Natural History is my favorite - Hope diamond and dinosaurs!). You do NOT need a pass from your Representative to get tickets to the Capitol (it certainly helps because it gets you a smaller tour, but they have tours to the general public through the day for a larger tour group).

Georgetown is adorable, and I think you'll love M Street. There is no metro in Georgetown (which makes it hard to get to and from it, but also protects it's unique feel) - I recommend the Circulator bus ($1, clean, fast, comes every 10 minutes). You can always take a quick walk to Foggy Bottom to catch the metro.

And, while I've got you, ever DC'er I know prefers Baked and Wired to Georgetown Cupcake. Just trying to save you a 40 minute wait :)

Have so much fun at Coldplay!
