Foot Drama..

I have been exercising and running for quite some time now. Some days are good, but some days are not so good. Running is weird like that. Some afternoons when I hit the pavement, I think to myself," Man! I should have gone longer. That felt great!" And other times, I think, " Are you kidding me? How am I only at three miles?" Monday was absolutely beautiful, so best friend and I hit the pavement. We got in a nice run with a pretty good steady pace. After we were done, I hit up lunch with mom and then got some grocery shopping done. It was a great day all in all! I love having Monday off...I wish it was every week! ;) Anyway, I got home and put the groceries up, got some laundry done, and unloaded the dishwasher. After I got out of the shower, I noticed my foot was somewhat bothering me. I just figured it was all the exercising I had been doing over the last several weeks, so I continued to ignore it. After Sam got home, we ate dinner and watched a movie on Netflix. As I was getting up to clean the kitchen, it hit me. I could put zero pressure on my left foot....and I mean ZERO. I immediately turned to Sam and said, "What the heck?!" He had no idea what it was, so told me to just elevate and ice it. By Tuesday morning, I was in pain.... I knew I needed to get to the doctor, but my students were testing, so I HAD to be at work. After I left that afternoon, Sam swung by the condo, picked me up, and we headed to Campbell's Clinic. Long story short, it's a stress reaction. Apparently, I have been doing too much exercise on a bad foot which almost caused it to become a stress fracture. I was so upset... The doctor told me it happens quite often to people who are active, so rest, wearing my ugly boot, and staying off of it is the best medicine. I hated to hear that, but asked him if there was ANY exercising I could do!!! Luckily, I can swim and ride the stationary bike.... I guess that is good news! If I'm smart and continue to wear the boot for the next three weeks, he believes that I can get back into my running and lifting weights.... Cross your fingers for me that everything looks good on my next doctor appointment!!! :)

Ugh what a bummer! At least you caught it before it turned into a stress fracture. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Not cool :(. I know it sucks not to be able to workout when you are used to it. Thankfully, it is only 3 weeks! I hope it heals soon :).
