Those Special Ordinary Days...

Well, I took a "leave of absence" this summer in the blogging world. I wanted a few months to focus on me and enjoy my days baking at the pool, working out with friends, scheduling last minute lunch dates, reading my devotion in the peace and quiet with my cup of coffee, etc.... This summer really taught me so much about myself... I am so thankful for all of those ordinary days I had over the last ten weeks. There's a video I once watched a while back that talks about appreciating the simple things in life...And boy did I learn that this summer... I rarely slept late, but looking back and pondering on everything that happened over the summer, I am truly confident with every decision I made... I can honestly say that I will be starting the 2013-2014 school year with a full heart and refreshed mind. I am ready to tackle this year with excitement and a positive attitude. I have missed my co-workers over the summer, and I of course, cannot wait to meet my new babies! I am so thankful and blessed that my job allows me to have the summer days off. I now understand what my mother always went through on those final days before returning for a week of in-service.... It's somewhat a bittersweet feeling... I have enjoyed having more "me" time, wearing gym clothes all day, applying blush and lipstick and calling it a day, or letting the curling iron and hair dryer collect dust on the shelves because a ball cap just makes more sense...But, I also love the hectic school days, the afternoons where I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off because I have too many errands to run, and the feeling I get when I realize it's TGIF. Even though I switch relaxing days with exhausting days, I am STILL grateful for it all... As I prepare myself for the evenings of setting out clothes, packing lunches, grading papers, and grading more papers, I can't help but smile when I think of the new friendships I created over this summer...If I learned one thing over the ten week break, it's this.... Wake up every morning with a smile on your face and a heart full of love. Learn to appreciate the good days with the bad days. Life is a crazy rollercoaster and we're not here forever....And most importantly, keep it simple.......I guess I didn't name this blog The Simple Life of Delta Daisies for nothing... ;) Until next time, Namaste.

Summer break truly is the best! I don't know how other people survive working without it. Good luck this year!
