Lake Bound...

We are headed to the lake for the weekend! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and stay cool! It is supposed to be SO HOT. We are planning on celebrating July 4th THIS weekend. I am sure everyone else is, too. I plan to do a lot of laying out, reading, and having a good ole' time! ;)

Sneak Peek....

I worked in my classroom yesterday. I am SO excited to get it where I want it, etc. It was a lot of work moving desks, book shelves, tables, computers, etc. My arms are definitely sore! I also helped a friend in her classroom, so we were trying to tackle two rooms at the same time. ha! Here is a sneak peek of where my room is so far...I have a long way to go, but I am so excited to have the floors waxed and desks in order. I have decided I wanted to give you a "sneak peek" of what I am looking for as far as my "theme" goes, but will not be decorating until I get home from D.C., so stay tuned! I have bought and ordered lots of CUTTTTE stuff.  Here is what the room looks like so far:

WORK TO DO!

My Smart Board has not been hung yet.

I am anxious to get that put in.

I am in a new school, so we are not allowed to paint the walls, doors, furniture, or hang curtains...Bummer, I know...I was really anxious to hang curtains, but it's for safety reasons, so I totally understand. I plan to bring some book shelves, etc. in that are MINE, so I can paint them and do whatever I want to them..Here is the "sneak peek." I could not hold it in any longer...;)

Current Obsessions.

I hope you all are having a wonderful summer so far! I wanted to share with you a few of my current obsessions right now...

 I am LOVING these towelettes. I highly suggest trying

these out if you are not a fan of being out in the sun!

They are also very,very natural.

I am not sure if many of you have ever heard of a

Croc Hair Straightener, but they are AWESOME.

My girlfriend has one, so I had the oppurtunity

to use hers a couple of times. I fell in love with

it immediately. I ordered one for myself

after a week or so, and I have been loving it since.

They are around $90.00 and work wonders.

You can control the temperature, but ranges anywhere

from 100-400 degrees. Get you one...

I recently started a new book.

I have read a couple of Elin Hilderbrand's

books and loved them all. I am only a couple chapters

in, but I am anxious to see what happens.

I finally broke down and ordered the J.Crew Bubble necklace.

I know I will wear this a BUNCH. I can't wait for it to get here.

I have been on a tomato and mayo sandwich kick.

It has been so hot here, so I don't want anything too heavy.

I am loving these for lunch!! :)

Recipes Galore.

I have been cooking up a storm lately. I wanted to share with you a few recipes that I have fixed.

Last week, I made shrimp tacos. They were pretty good!

I also made some Rice a Roni Mexican rice and

Mexican style corn. It was a great, easy meal!

We grilled out filets the other night.

I roasted some asparagus and tomatoes in the oven.

I also threw together a Summer Potato toss

from Kendall Jones' blog. It was pretty good!

Last week, I made a pretty awesome dinner...

Atleast Sam thought so...He said, " this is one of your

best meals ever!" I roasted some asparagus and red potatoes

in the oven on 400 degrees. I took the asparagus out a little earlier.

Next, I made Parmesan Chicken Bundles from Kendall Jones'

blog. I am telling you...she is an EXCELLENT cook!

These were divine!! I will definitely be cooking these again.

Weekend Recap..

We had a wonderful weekend! It was quite busy, but so fun. Friday night, my family, friends, and I went out on the boat to enjoy Norah Jones in concert. It was an epic night! Unfortunately, I paid for it the next morning, but we had a wonderful time. Saturday morning, I had to be up to keep my favorite little boys! It was a busy,busy day. Once I got home, I was in bed by 7:30...Lame, I know...It was so nice to get a full night's rest, though. Sunday, I had errands to run, clothes to wash, etc. Sam and I also went and look at houses. It's always fun to look at houses, but unfortunately, our condo is still not sold...We just lowered the price, so say a prayer for us. Later that evening, we had a cook out! It was too much fun. Over-all, it was a fun weekend! It's getting extremely hot here in Memphis, so I wore my hair up all weekend and very little makeup. I hope you all are having an excellent week! We are gearing up for our July 4th weekend trip to the lake! I cannot waiiiiiiiit to be on the water. Next week, Sam and I will be on a plane headed to Washington D.C. Please keep us in your prayers next week.

Another ENGAGEMENT!!!!

I went to dinner with my old friends the other night...We had a wonderful time, but an even BIGGER time than usual because Savannah is ENGAGED! We are so excited for her and Jereme! I look forward to all of the wedding festivities that plan to take place! We ate dinner at the Majestic downtown then visited a few places on Beale Street before heading home...I love these girls!

Fashion..

After celebrating with lots of friends for getting a "big girl job," I wanted to buy myself a present..I guess I am on a Tory Burch kick..I have wanting a red purse SO BAD, so I have been eyeing the Amanda Hobo in red. Of course, I waited a few weeks, but then decided to take the plunge and purchase it. I needed a new handbag, wanted to buy myself a present, and somehow convinced myself that I deserved it. ha! Last week, Sam and I went to dinner at The Grove Grill..I was excited. We have not been there in forever. I also went to lunch with Mom and my cousin last week. I also played tennis a couple of times. I have MISSED it. I crave and get obsessed with it so quick.

Weekend Recap.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I definitely did. It was nice to get out of town with Sam and enjoy the lake. We have not been much this summer yet, but I have a feeling it is about to be an every weekend occurance...I would much rather spend my weekend at the lake...Call me crazy, but there is something about staying in a ball cap and swim suit all weekend that just really makes me smile...;) We drove down Friday afternoon. We did not have the best weather, but I could have cared less. It was nice to be on the lake, Pandora playing in the background, enjoying some Blue Moon's, and grilling out with my main man. I hope you all had a lovely weekend!! I did not get many pictures, but had a chance to snap this one! ;)

My Best Friend's Wedding...

My best friend has asked me to be a part of her wedding. I am SO excited for her and Worth! November cannot get here fast enough!!! I could not be more honored to stand next to her on the biggest day of her life! :) I love you, Nat!! We seriously have been best friends for yearrrrrrrssss....We go way back ;)

Emily Giffin

I have read every single book by Emily Giffin. A lot of people do not care for chick literature, but to say the least, she's excellent. They turned, Something Borrowed, into a movie. She has also written : Something Blue, Baby Proof, Love the One You're With, and Heart of the Matter. I LOVED each and every book in a different way. It is amazing how she writes. She is easy to read, but I am always left sad when her books end. She has a way of drawing in her readers and making them feel like they are actually in the book...pure amazement. I was on her website the other day and to my amazement, she is coming out with another book on July 24th! I am SO excited. The book is called, Where We Belong. I have pre-ordered it...You know what I will be doing on July 24th....;)

Current Obsessions...

I hope you are having a great weekend! It has gotten hot here already. Because of the heat, I often find myself eating light. I don't care for heavy foods when it's 90 plus outside. Here are a few things I'm loving this summer so far:

I am LOVING this Minute Maid lemonade.

I usually don't care for the "diet" or "light"

lemonade, but this is really,really good.

Promise me that you will try it out! :)

Salads...I find myself wanting a salad

for lunch and dinner in the Summer time.

I just can't make myself eat anything hot

or heavy. Are any of you like this??

Sno Cones...Jerry's Sno Cones are the

B-E-S-T...If you live in Memphis or just

visiting, you MUST try this place. It is

an old gas station...Not in the best part

of town, but so worth it! This is my all time

favorite flavor, Blue Raspberry supreme.

I am almost finished with the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy.

I started reading a lonnnnnggg time ago, but school

and graduation got so busy, I didn't have time to read.

Now that school is out, I have a lot more time!

The first book was a little too much for me, but I REALLY

enjoyed the second, and I am loving the third! If you have

not read these, I highly suggest them. I can't wait to see

who is going to play Christian Grey and Ana Steele.

Life Lately..

I have been ABSENT for awhile! I apologize. I have a lot of things to update you on! :) Since graduation, I have been extremely busy. It's crazy how much has happened over the last couple of weeks. Before I give you my exciting news, I wanted to update you on a few recent "Summer" purchases I have made...;)

Without further ado, I want to let you know about my BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I, Brittney Hanks, have a BIG GIRL JOB!!! I will be a fourth grade teacher this fall. I am beyond excited! God is SO GOOD! With all of that being said, look forward to reading about my adventure as I tackle my first year of teaching! :) Also, my bff  sent me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. It's friends like her, that make the world go round....
